Need Encouragement?

In a previous post, I discussed how depression can be one of three things: a result of sin, the consequence of circumstances, or a symptom of a medical condition. The treatment depends on the root cause of the depression. There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to treating depression. I have met many people over the years that battle depression on an on-going basis. I was thrilled when a friend shared with me how she had been delivered from depression and how she was using her past sufferings to encourage others. I asked her to write a guest post sharing what God is doing through her today. Here are her words:

We all have a story. My story is about depression. To the point of self destruction. I knew God was with me. But I didn’t trust him completely. Then I realized the devil was telling me lies. Little by little God showed me how to come out of depression his way. Although I can’t guarantee anything, I just know, God did it for me and I know he can for you too. Since then, I have started this ministry, Texting people every day. Giving them Words of encouragement and how to do the same thing I did. You can email me at [email protected], and I will add you to my list.

Even if you don’t struggle with depression, but you could use a little encouragement in your life, Sherry’s texts can be the nuggets you need to give you hope for the day. I praise God for the way He is using her texting ministry to encourage others.

  1. Natalie–I have not been on your blog in forever. I am not even sure how I caught your post today, but I did. And perhaps God led me here. Thank you,Sherry, for your boldness about depression. I have fought this battle for many years, and will be the first to admit that while there have been several small victories, I still struggle on a daily basis. I pray that someday I will know the healing you speak of, and until then I pray that God will use each of my struggles and steps forward (and backward) to bring Him glory.
