You’ve Got to Be Kidding!

So last week I returned from my lunch break to find out that the phone on my desk had stopped working. I fiddled with it and unplugged and replugged until I was more and more aggravated. I had my friend, Walt, look at it and he too could not figure out what was wrong. I was so frustrated because I just bought the blasted thing in August. Of course I didn’t save the box, so the store where I bought it told me to call the company. I stayed on my cell phone with the company for thirty minutes while I tried all the different ways they told me to fix it. After wasting half a day trying to get the stupid thing to work, the company told me to mail it back for a replacement. All week, (well for 3 days anyway) I had no phone. I had to get up and walk across the room to use my assistant’s phone. I know, now I am whiney but come on! It was supposed to work!!!

Well, today the replacement phone came in. I hooked it up and NOTHING happened! Absolutely nothing. Dead silence. What? It wasn’t working either! I griped and complained and fiddled with it until at last my assistant came over to offer her assistance. She plugged hers into the wall and it worked fine. OK, so it had to be a phone issue but this was a brand new phone. Then, it happened. She casually reached down and pushed the button that said: Line 1. Voila! It worked. Apparently it wasn’t a problem with the old phone, but with its operator. Oh well, lesson learned and attitude adjusted.
