Waiting…
Yesterday,
I heard a pastor say, “Waiting time is not wasted time.” This really resonated
with me. It seems like I’ve spent much of my life waiting. Waiting for answers.
Waiting for guidance. Waiting for God’s timing. I don’t know about you, but I’m
not too good at waiting.

Not too
long ago I had to wait at the DMV to get my commercial driver’s license. I had
already passed the test, and just needed to have my picture taken so I could
get a new hard copy. So, I sat in the hard seat in the cold room and waited.
And waited. And waited. Three hours later, my number was finally called. I felt
like I had wasted half of my day waiting.

With God,
waiting is never in vain. There is purpose and meaning in our times of waiting.
Perhaps he is working on building our character before he answers our prayer
for wisdom. Perhaps he is orchestrating something even greater than we could
ever imagine while we wait. Sometimes in our hurry, we settle for less than God’s
best. Ultimately, waiting is about trust. Do we really trust that God hears us
and will come through for us?

yes or no will often suffice, but all we hear is silence. Why is it that the
silence is so deafening? I’d rather have no as an answer than wait in silence.
Why? Because then I can develop a plan to move forward. The problem is that
when I do this, I am making the
plan, and not trusting God. The Bible tells us, “Many are the plans in a man’s
heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” I want God’s will more than
I want my will.

Great stuff! I wrote a similar blog regarding this topic. More people need to be reminded that God's timing is always better than our own. Easier said than done.
