The Hope of Easter
Three days ago, I sat with my grandmother who was struggling to find peace. She wanted to talk but couldn’t. I tried singing with her, and she’d say, “Let me sing. Let me sing.” She then quickly got frustrated because her mouth would not cooperate. She was getting restless when I said, “Grandma, this Sunday is Easter. Let’s read the Easter story.” I then picked up her Bible and began to read aloud.
After some time, she finally relaxed and eventually fell asleep. It was a precious day — a gift. Little did I know that three days later she would pass away. She died on Easter morning. While I grieve, I do not grieve as one without hope. Like Jesus, there will be a time when she rises again. Until that day she is with Jesus — she has perfect peace. There will be a day when we are reunited.
I have always known resurrection day represents hope and life, but now it takes on added meaning for me. May you rest in the Goodness of the Lord today. He is risen indeed and because He Lives, I can face tomorrow.
Dear sweet Natalie. There is no stronger pain than the pain of losing someone you love. I know you understand as do I. Your grandma is singing the wonderful songs from her heart with her Lord and Savior and a great choir of Christians. Some close to my heart. Love you very much and miss you. MaryAnna
