Being a Senior…A Time to Dream and a Time to Reminisce.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1.
A couple of days ago it came…an invitation to subscribe to Reminisce Magazine. For those that aren’t familiar with this magazine, it’s tagline is “Reminisce is a spirited celebration of America’s stories with readers’ own personal memories, cherished traditions, photos and family recipes…Whether recalling their struggles on the home front, the thrill of their first kiss or an epic family road trip, our readers trust us with their memories
because they know that we cherish them as much as they do.” It is a magazine that “reminsces” about the “good ‘ole days.”
It’s not the subscription itself that got my attention, but what was on the front of the envelope. “Senior discount approved for J Flake.”
Senior discount. My baby girl is a senior…ok, not that kind of senior but a senior none the less. After a good laugh, I started thinking about senior year. Yesterday we went back to school shopping for the last time. Today is her last open house…this is a year of lasts.
While this makes me somewhat sad, it also makes me happy. God gave her to me to nurture and teach so that she can fulfill what He has created her to do. Senior year is an important part of this journey. I know there will be tearful days ahead, but I also look forward to celebrating this year with Jorjanne.
For all those mamas out there who’ve already survived senior year, I’d love to hear any special memories you have or any advice for making the most of this time together.
