Give your Presence this Christmas
As a child, one of my favorite Christmas traditions was to ride around and look at all the Christmas lights in our community. The windows were filled with brightly lit trees, store windows proclaimed the Christmas season, and church lawns donned nativity scenes, some of which were live. While I loved taking in the sights of Christmas, what made it really special was the time spent with loved ones.
Today we connect with acquaintances on social media more than ever before while neglecting those closest to us. This Christmas I challenge you to be intentional about relationships. Take time to write a personal note in your Christmas cards. Call someone you haven’t talked with in a long time and let them know you care. Put down the cell phone and be fully present with the people in your midst.
This time of year brings nostalgia, trickled with sadness of loved ones who are no longer with us. While we can’t go back, we can be present with the ones we love now. What will you do this Christmas to create memories with those you love?
