Finding Delight in 2020!

Recently I’ve seen a lot of posts on social media asking, “What’s your word for 2020?” I am praying that 2020 would be a year of DELIGHT in my life.

When I think of delight I think of a groom’s expression as he sees his bride for the first time on their wedding day. I think of a parent’s excitement as his child takes her first steps. I think of the thespian who stretches to look over the heads of others to see their name at the top of the cast list. To delight in something is to experience pure joy!

I long to experience pure joy (i.e. DELIGHT) in the Lord in 2020. Now I know that delight does not necessitate a life without heartache and sorrows. In fact, it is finding delight even in the midst of suffering.  When we delight in the Lord, we are not focused on circumstances but on God Himself.

Many have called 2020 the year of clarity. I pray that as I delight in the Lord, my vision of who He is will become clearer.

What is your hope for 2020?

I took the photo at the top today as I was amazed at the contrast in the sky. I can focus on what I perceive is coming storms, or I can see the blue skies on the horizon. It all depends on where I choose to focus. God sees the big picture, and we often see only a small piece of the puzzle.
